"Up to $5,000 in build credits" fits on a banner. It doesn't tell you what actually happens. So let's be concrete about what the Startup Build Credits program is, what the credits go toward, and who they're for.
What the credits are
Build credits are what they sound like: credit toward building with the studio. Not a cash investment, not a loan, not a prize with strings attached. If you're accepted into the program, you get up to $5,000 in credits you apply toward working with Klabs Ventures Studio's build team — the product, design, and engineering time it takes to move an idea toward something real.
What that looks like in practice
Early-stage founders usually need the same few things: someone to sharpen the concept into a real product plan, design that makes it tangible, and engineering that makes it work. The credits go toward exactly that kind of work — the gap between "I have an idea" and "I have something to show."
The full details of the current offers live on the Startup Build Credits page. Read them before you apply; they're written to be specific.
Who it's for
Founders with something they're serious about building. You don't need a pitch deck, a co-founder, or traction. You need an idea you've thought hard about and the willingness to do the work. The application is short — we'd rather spend the time building with you than reading about you.
What it isn't
It isn't funding for your runway, and it isn't a shortcut around the work. Credits amplify a founder who's already moving; they don't replace the founder. If you're looking for someone to build it while you watch, this isn't that. If you're looking for a team to build it with you, apply.
